Resolve the sink leak yourself… if it's a minor problem.

24-Hr Emergency Services

A leaky sink is a common problem. From time to time, you may notice that the water is coming from the supply pipe, the flange in the sink floor, or the pipes underneath the sink. However, a leak is not always immediately detectable. Sometimes your sink won't start leaking until you turn it on. Other times you have to let the sink fill up a bit before the leak occurs. However, many sink problems can be solved on their own. Here are some examples of problems that can occur and what you can do to fix the leak yourself. Call 24-Hr Emergency Services to help you with any water leakage problem.

Sink Repair

Holes in the inlet hose - There may be leaks inside the inlet hose that transfers the water to the tap. The water is placed under pressure so that the water can pass through the pipes to the tap. A leak here could indicate faulty tubing, loose compression fittings, or loose faucet connections. These can be a pain to tighten because faucet connections are often found in cramped spaces at the back of the sink. Use locking pliers to tighten the faucet connections and a wrench to tighten the compression fittings.  24-Hr Emergency Services puts the best plumbers at your service.

Corroded sink flange - All sinks have a round metal disc that sits around the drain. The sink flange is designed to seal the drain around the outside so that water cannot run through the sink floor and into the furniture. Over time, the sink flange can corrode or the gasket under the flange can wear out, causing a leak. In many cases, this is solved by simply replacing the sink flange and rubber gasket. Don't worry, this is an inexpensive solution. 24-Hr Emergency Services offers the best plumbing service.

Leaking Drain Pipe - Located under the sink will be the drain pipe. The exhaust pipe is usually divided into three separate sections of pipe. Each section of pipe is held together by a round disc of metal or plastic called a locknut. Most exhaust pipe leaks occur when two of these pipe sections meet. In most cases, tightening all locknuts will fix this type of leak. If the leak persists, you may have a hole in the drain pipe. In this case, you will need to find out which section is leaking and replace that section. If you have metal pipes, you need to check for corrosion as well, as metal pipes tend to corrode over time.
